The ICR. IAS Joint Venture team delivered a rapid response, engineered composite repair solution on a critical offshore conductor with multiple through wall defects. A through wall defect means that the TechnowrapTM composite repair is designed to and provides full structural strength and pressure containment with no steel required.
This complete offshore platform composite repair:
- reinstated the original strength of the conductor,
- increased the long-term integrity and corrosion protection by 5 years and,
- was done with no disruption to the operation of the facility and no hot work was required.
A small team of multi skilled technicians conducted the complex geometry repair while the conductor continued to operate. The composite repair has a 5 year design life and design pressure of 4000 kPa giving long term integrity and corrosion protection. This composite design was prepared in accordance with ISO 24817.
